How is this intervention unique?

Corrective Reading Program is designed to serve struggling readers in grades four and above, even if other approaches have been unsuccessful. The program is explicit, sequential, and designed for direct individualized instruction.

Decoding and comprehension portions may be used together or separately to customize lessons for each student. Pre-reading skills through seventh-grade reading level material are taught over four levels.

Dr. Rachel Sermier and her team used CRP to teach 48 non-decoding elementary students, ages 6-13, with IDD to read and spell over seven months. The treatment group made medium effect size progress in word and non-word decoding, and spelling.
